Then I removed all civ4 files, civ3 files, and alpha centauri files. I was installing a computer game called Axis and Allies (2004 version), and about 10 percent through the installation a message popped up reading: Component Transfer Error Component: Default Component File Similar problem to the one you mentioned. the fix downloaded fine too so i dont know what it might be!!!

That should do it, when youve done that try reinstalling. Anyone else getting this issue, or anyone else know what's up? I also unchecked the firewall/multiplayer checkbox just below it, but I don't think that mattered.
